The possibility of an Archipelago
An introductory weekend for queer, multigenerational living – to explore how we might move from utopia to a lovingly lived reality.
It is one of those unspoken questions that accompany us as the years go by… at times louder, at times more pressing: How do I want to live as I get older? With whom? What do I actually need? And what does ‘home’ mean when the children have long since moved out or were never there?
Within the Gay Love Spirit network, an idea has been growing for years. People who have met through Tantra, at festivals, on retreats or in training, who know something about one another (not just the good sides, but the others too), ask themselves: Could we deepen this? For more than two or three meetings a year? Ideally, we would create several locations with different qualities (the archipelago), which are interconnected and facilitate exchange.
“We are not looking for like-minded people in the sense of being the same. We are looking for people with whom we can be honest – about boundaries, about intimacy, about longings, about our abilities and preferences, about money, about what we need and what we can give.”
This first weekend is not a planning meeting. We are not founding anything, we are not signing anything, we are not deciding anything. We get to know one another, in a small group, more deeply than a festival allows. Through conversation, through our bodies, whilst cooking, on a walk.
The questions that will guide us through the weekend: How do we shape the path so that those who can grow old together within such a structure may find one another? What are the conditions for this to succeed and for us to be connected in a positive sense?
